Catherine Melillo
Program & Resource Manager
I am deeply committed to advocating for enriching experiential opportunities that allow students to reconnect with the environment and the land that surrounds them. Central to this dedication is my passion for promoting food literacy and sustainability. Many of my fondest childhood memories revolve around food experiences, whether it was gardening in my family’s backyard, rising at dawn to prepare batches of tomato sauce that would last us the year, or preserving vegetables through pickling in the autumn. I firmly believe that cultivating an understanding and appreciation for all facets of the food system is an essential tool for fostering meaningful discourse and change across various critical issues such as food security, sustainability, and overall well-being.
With my background experience working as an Ontario Certified Teacher in the classroom, outdoor learning centres, conservation authorities, as well as educational NGOs, I’m thrilled to be joining the AgScape team as Program and Resource Manager, and am eager to contribute to their mission of integrating agriculture and food education into every classroom across Ontario
