What is AgScape’s Teacher Ambassador Program®?

The core program at AgScape which helps us achieve our mission is the Teacher Ambassador Program.  By sending Teacher Ambassadors into classrooms across Ontario we achieve our mission in three ways:

1.  Provide students with accurate, fact based and unbiased information about the agri-food sector
2.  Train new teachers on how to teach students about the agri-food sector
3.  Supports classroom teachers in addressing agri-food issues

Who are Teacher Ambassadors?

AgScape assembles a team of Teacher Ambassadors, who are:

  • Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs)
  • Have an interest in agri-food topics
  • New to the teaching profession OR experienced/retired teachers looking for a new opportunity
  • Looking to gain experience in the classroom OR continue to work in the education sector
  • Looking to earn supplementary income

What type of classes does a Teacher Ambassador teach?

The Teacher Ambassador Program is for grades 7-12.  Teacher Ambassadors teach about a variety of agri-food issues using the lessons in the Teacher Ambassador Library.  Teacher Ambassadors are expected to make adjustments to the lessons based on their knowledge of teaching and education but are expected to keep key messaging and content consistent.  Click here to find out more about the lesson topics currently available.
