Being invited to present at Growmark's Directors Summit on March 3rd was a unique opportunity, says AgScape’s Executive Director Colleen Smith, “Growmark is an industry leader in supporting ag-education. It was very gratifying to have their Directors be so interested and engaged about the impact AgScape’s work is having on the next generation. The core values of both of our organizations are very closely aligned, and we look forward to continuing to work and partner with Growmark in the future.”
Local Growmark cooperatives are owned by their members - farmers and other who use their services. The company’s main product lines include agronomy, energy, facility planning and supply, grain, and logistics. Growmark began in the United States in 1927 and has grown to represent more than 250,000 customers in Canada and the U.S.
AgScape’s presentation began with Smith giving a summary of AgScape’s various programs and the core values shared by both organizations. Sharon Bowes, AgScape Finance and Operations Manager, provided metrics - pointing out the tremendous impact that AgScape’s programs and resources have on student and educator perceptions of the agri-food sector. The presentation was rounded off by Jenny Mayer, an AgScape Teacher Ambassador, who shared her personal experience in bringing agri-food education directly into the classroom on behalf of AgScape. Mayer pointed out that many of AgScape’s Teacher Ambassador Lessons touch directly on Growmark’s product lines, including agronomy, the environment, and energy.
